Hi, as this is my first blog post on my new website I thought I would introduce myself and tell you how it all started. My name is Diane, I'm a wife, mother of two teenage children and the owner of a dog, a cat and we all live in the East Midlands.
I've always been a bit of a hoarder and would keep things 'just in case' or because they were pretty. My mosaic story started a few years ago when hubby went into the attic to bring down the Christmas decorations. Instead of bringing down the deccys he brought down a box of old china. 'Do something with these or throw them away' he said. I looked in the box and it was full of Royal Albert Old Country Roses China. It was chipped, cracked and incomplete. My hoarding nature wouldn't let me throw it away. I thought and Googled and came up with mosaic. I had never made mosaic before so I had to do some research on the internet and bought myself a pair of wheeled nippers. I was so nervous taking my first nip but I needn't had worried. Rather ambitiously I thought I would mosaic a large jewellery box. I quite surprised myself and gained confidence as I worked through the design. I was so pleased with the result I gave the box to my mum for Christmas and my love of creating mosaic from old china began.
