Mosaic design of a hanging stag or reindeer head has been created using recycled china pieces.
A pink, green and gold plate (Indian Tree pattern) has been used to create this eye catching mosaic. The gold geometric rim of the plate has been used to mosaic the antlers and the remaining colourful pattern for his face. Special attention to detail has been given to the spacing and placement of the china pieces, each one cut and shaped by hand.
The mosaic is upon a wooden base which has been decorated with silver in a rustic style on the sides. Twine is attached at the top of the antlers and tied with a knot forming an extra loop. This gives a choice of hanging the stag at two different lengths depending on where it will be displayed. The longest drop approx 44.5 cm from top of loop to bottom of nose and the shortest drop approx 34 cm from top of loop to bottom of nose.
This reindeer/stag head measures approximately 21 cm at the widest part of the antlers and 23 cm from the top of the antlers to the end of the nose. He is approx 1.5 cm thick.
The striking pinks and greens with the gold antlers gives this stag head a contemporary look and he would make a wonderful addition to the home at any time of year, not just at Christmas. Ideal for the hallway, dining room, snug or bedroom.
I am very conscious to file sharp edges but due to the nature of using recycled china for mosaic careful handling should be taken at all times in case any sharp edges remain. My mosaics are not toys and should not be handled by children.
