This stunning picture of an apple tree has been created in mosaic from 2 different coloured Wedgwood bone china plates.
I have nipped and shaped each one of the leaves by hand before smoothing the edges with a glass grinder. I chose to use Indian Tree china for the tree trunk and branches due to it's geometric pattern and brown/gold coloured rim. The apples are little faux berries which stand proud of the mosaic giving an additional dimention to the piece.
The tree has been surrounded in white china mosaic using the remaining centre of the dinner plates. In this particular piece I have included the backstamp of one of the plates in the corner to add to the story of the mosaic. I have edged the whole picture with stainless steel ball chain and 'grouted it in' to give a lovely finish.
An unusual and eyecatching mosaic which would invite anyone who sees it to take a closer look. It measures approximately 18cm wide by 22cm tall and is hung by a green polka dot ribbon.
I can make Apple Tree plaques to order and personalise with initials or with a date to celebrate moving house, wedding, anniversary or retirement.
